Support for palliative care organisations in Eastern Europe
We would like to renew our call to our Collective member organisations from Western Europe to adopt a sister palliative care organisation from the Eastern part of Europe by paying their annual membership fee in the EAPC for two years.
The cost to support one Eastern European Palliative Care Organisation is only 40 € for 2003.
Please send an Email to sylvia.sauter@stockholmssjukhem.se telling about your intentions. Idea will then get in contact with you with more details of how to organise this adoption.
Thank you in advance for your help!

National Palliative Care Standards for organisation, services and delivery
The EAPC and the hospice information service of St. Christophers Hospice have both, independently of each other, been compiling information on which countries have now produced national standards/guidelines in palliative care. Please help us to complete the work. If you know about national standards, please contact: Carl Johan Furst or Sylvia Sauter at EAPCEast, mailto: Sylvia.Sauter@stockholmssjukhem.se.

From the Associations Collective Members
The Hungarian Hospice Palliative Care Association has published the 2nd edition of its Professional Guidelines of Hospice Care. Available in Hungarian and English it includes discussion of legal issues, organisational data, staffing, palliative care treatment, staff and volunteers, job descriptions, paediatric palliative care, cost analysis, quality assurance, education, training, and details of Hungarian hospices/palliative care services. For further information contact: Dr Katalin Hegedus

From the Council of Europe
The Council of Europe will next year publish a report on recommendations on palliative care in Europe. That will hopefully be a useful tool for all our members for their contacts with the national authorities.
