Mission Statement

Since 1988, I have been an active member of the Swiss Society for Palliative Care and the European Association for Palliative Care, both founded that same year.
Member of the Swiss national Board since 1995 and vice-president since 1999, I have been actively involved in the practise of palliative education with more than 15 years experience in this field, currently leading the Swiss national Education Task Force.
As active member, I have contributed to the EAPC activities as :

  • member of the organising Committee of the 6th EAPC Congress in Geneva, 1999
  • member of the palliative education network, 2000
  • EAPC Cross Sectional Survey national co-ordinator for Switzerland, 2001
  • currently replacing Prof. Ch.-H. Rapin as the Swiss representative at the EAPC Board of Directors, elected by the Swiss national Board and by the EAPC Board in Granada, Spain, April 2002
  • member of the Scientific Committee for the 2nd Congress on Research, Lyon, May 2002
  • member of the EAPC Task Force on Palliative Nurse Education since 2002
  • member of the Advisory Board for the EAPC Congress in The Hague, April 2003

Fluent in 3 languages, -French, English and German-, I have collaborated with the EAPC Head Office for the translation of various documents.
Group work and organisational leadership are some of the skills that I am prepared to offer to EAPC.  My experience to date clearly demonstrates my willingness and my motivation to keep working at the European level through networking.
The concept of interdisciplinarity is extremely important for me, because I do believe that high quality palliative care can only be provided through a multi-professional approach.
I am particularly interested in the development of palliative care for severely ill children, relating to the fact that the paediatric field is an area which requires urgent consideration at this time.

I would be very honoured to be elected to the EAPC Board for 2003-2007 and thus be able to continue the work that is in process.
