English
Simultaneous translation will be provided into Hungarian during the Plenary Lectures.

Badges
Each participant will receive a name badge upon registration. For security reasons all participants are requested to wear their badges during the Congress. Entrance will not be permitted to those delegates not wearing their badge.

Accreditation
This meeting has been accredited with 10 Category 1 ESMO-MORA points.

Posters
There will be three full days of poster presentations with time slots in the program for poster viewing and for guided poster tours located in Building C.

Guided poster tours
Posters will be assessed by a poster reviewing panel while displayed for exhibition. A selection of posters will be discussed during guided poster tours chaired by experts in palliative care.

The author should be present at the poster during the breaks and the guided poster tour.

Poster Awards
Chosen reviewers will assess the posters displayed in two sets during the forum. Nine outstanding posters (three for each poster set) will receive an award during the closing session.

Art exhibition
An exhibition of artworks created by participants can be visited during the Congress in Building C. The exhibition conveys the cultural aspects of hospice and palliative care and expresses the struggles and rewards of working in the field. Artworks reflect the motto of the congress, ‘Connecting Diversity’, either directly or through the free association of ideas.
Please vote for the artworks in Building C before 13.30, Friday 8 June!

The winners will be announced on Friday 8 June at 15.00 in the Plenary Hall after Plenary Lecture 7.

Awards
1st prize The winning entry will be published on the cover of a future issue of the European Journal of Palliative Care; and the winning entrant will receive a one-year personal subscription to the journal.
2nd prize Free entry for two persons to the Gala Dinner at the Gellért Bath (including massage or bath ticket)
3rd prize A big Hungarian Puli dog (not a real one!).

Slide preview desk in the exhibition area and in the Plenary Hall
This desk will be available for speakers throughout the Congress. Please note that the presentations have to be given to the technicians located in the Building where your presentation will be held (Building A, Building C, Plenary Hall). Speakers will be directed to this desk to drop off their presentations at least 2 hours before their scheduled presentation time (and in the Plenary Hall latest in the break before their presentation). If your presentation is scheduled early in the morning, you are kindly asked to report to the Slide preview desk one day before. Please note you will not be able to use your own laptop for your presentation.

Internet corner
Internet access will be available during the Congress, opening hours of the exhibition area, in Building C. (free of charge)

Climate
The climate of Budapest is continental. In June usually nice warm weather can be expected with a max. temperature of 23-28 °C, while the lowest temperature during the night ranging between 15-20 °C. Rain is not usual in this season.

Currency/credit card
The Forint (HUF), the official national currency, is convertible. The exchange rates applied in Budapest banks, official exchange offices and hotels may vary. All the major credit cards are accepted in Hungary in places displaying the emblem at the entrance. The current exchange rate on May 8, 2007 is 1 Euro = 246 HUF

Visa
Most Europeans do not require an entry visa for Hungary. Please consult the Hungarian Embassy or Consulate nearest to you for specific details relating to Visas or alternatively you can visit the website of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: www.mfa.gov.hu

Invitation letter
An official invitation letter will be sent to participants who may need it to obtain visa or funding, etc. on individual request. It does not constitute a commitment to provide any financial support for travelling and staying expenses.

Insurance
The registration fee does not include provision of any insurance. Participants are advised to travel with a valid personal travel insurance.

Parking
Always try to park at a guarded parking lot and do not leave any valuables in the car. Please note, that Budapest is divided into paying areas, with one parking meter in each street. The tariffs differ but the maximum parking duration is 2 hours.

Electricity
The voltage in Hungary is 230 V, 50 Hz AC.

If you experience any health problems please contact the Registration Desk.

Public transportation
You can travel in the vehicles only with a prepurchased ticket or pass that you validate when starting your trip. Tickets are valid on the entire length of bus, tram, trolley bus lines, metro lines, the Millennium Underground and the cogwheel railway but are only valid on suburban railway (HÉV) lines within the administrative boundary of Budapest.

Tickets can be purchased at metro stations, at newsstands and at ticket vending machines.

Budapest Card
“The whole city in your pocket” is the motto of the Budapest Card.
The Card offers its holder more than a hundred services:
● unlimited travel on public transport
● free or discounted entry to 60 museums and to several sights
● reduced price tickets for cultural and folklore programmes
● discounts in restaurants and spas
● discount for car rental, sports facilities and in many other places
● travel accident insurance
Valid: for 48 or 72 hours.
Price in 2007: HUF 6450 for 48 hours/HUF 7950 for 72 hours.
Each Card is valid for one adult and one child up to 14 years of age.
Available: More than 250 places in Budapest: main metro ticket offices; tourist information bureaus; travel agencies; hotels and the airport; and abroad at major tour operators.

Tipping
There are no hard rules for tipping in Hungary. If you are satisfied with the service a 10% tip is customary, particulary in a taxi, restaurant or café with table service.
