Complexity levels of intervention in a hospital support team: descriptive study about prevalence, clinical characteristics and team organisation for each level. Nu´ ria Codorniu (nurse), Albert Tuca (MD). Hospital support team of palliative care service. Institut Català d'Oncologia Introduction: The experience of Palliative Care Support Team (PCST) in lasts years make us to consider different kind of interventions according to the characteristics of the clinical situation, psychosocial aspects and also on the origin and objective of the request (demand). The different levels of intervention of our hospital support team are understood as assistance processes of sequential character, being determined by the evaluation of the needs, our specific intervention protocol and the available assistance resources in a concrete moment of the natural evolution of the disease. We think that the recognition of those levels will allow us to structure and organise the support team to establish an adequate response to the assistance request.
Objective: Determine the characteristics of different clinical situations, which can define complexity levels, and specific protocols of PCST interventions.
Method: We are empirically defined 5 care levels according to case complexity and the intensity of PCST intervention, from a basic coordination of health resources collaborating with reference team, until the complete responsibility of inpatient. We have planned a descriptive, prospective study, with a consecutive recruitment of all patients assessed by PCST, during 4 months and with a sample foresaw of 200 300 patients. The variables assessed will make possible to confirm the differences between clinical situations and specific PCST protocols of intervention.
Results and Conclusions: We thing that in next moths we'll be in conditions to offer the preliminary results.
