Aims of the study: Frequency of the suicide in Palliative Care Unit, and identification of hight risk patients.
Methodology: A questionaire send to all the 78 PCU in france, and a telephone semi directive interwiew in case of positive answer.
Results: The frequency are very rare only 4 cases are reported in the last ten years, the patient psychologic profile had a very similar aspects, the act are violent, hanging, defenestration.The consequenses for the relative and caregivers very heavy.
Discussion: This low rate should be discuss with the fact of probable under report case.and the results difficults to generalize.
Conclusion: Despite a very low risk suicide in a palliative care unit can occur, an pecial attention should be provide to the "high risk" patient;
