PALLIATIVE MEDICINE DOCTOR RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL HONOR


The Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicinehas received top honor from The Royal College of Physicians (RCP), London, England.  Dr. Walsh was elected and awarded diploma of FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians) by the RCP president and fellow college members.   

The RCP of London is well known as the first medical institution in England granted Royal Charter by its sovereign and parliament. The RCP of London is a professional body, which represents over 20,000 physicians; its fellow college members strive to improve the quality of patient care by continually raising medical standards.

Dr. Walsh leads and directs The Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine, which is the only medical institution in the United States to receive the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) award as an ESMO Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care.  This award is only given to those centers, whose program meets and adheres to the highest standards of care and organization set for medical oncologists within a multidisciplinary team program. 

The Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine is also a recognized World Health Organization (WHO) Demonstration Project in Palliative Medicine, making the Horvitz Center a model for other cancer care hospitals worldwide.
