Sheffield Palliative Care Studies Group David Clark has been Professor of Medical Sociology at the University of Sheffield, and Associate Director of Trent Palliative Care Centre since 1995. In September 2003 he joins Lancaster University as Professor of Medical Sociology and Director of the International Observatory on End of Life Care. He is currently engaged in a number of studies concerned with service evaluation relating to the provision of palliative care and with issues of policy development, the international growth of palliative care and also ethical issues in the field. He has a particular interest in the historical development of the modern hospice movement. He is the author of numerous books and papers and has recently edited a selection of the letters of Cicely Saunders, published by Oxford University Press. He is an elected member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and a trustee of the UK charity Help the Hospices. February 2003 |
